As economies throughout the world are
adjusting to the formation of new markets and increased
free trade opportunities, the role of the commercial
real estate professional is more important than ever. A
Certified Commercial Investment Member
(CCIM) is a recognized professional in
commercial real estate brokerage, leasing, asset
management, valuation, and investment analysis. As a
seasoned, experienced expert, a CCIM is
an invaluable resource to their clients in the
commercial real estate marketplace.
The CCIM designation
was established originally by the California Association
of Realtors in 1954 under the name Certified Property
Exchanger (CPE). In 1967 it took on
national significance under administration by a division
of the National Association of Realtors. In 1969, the
designation was renamed
Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM).
A council was established to administer the designation
and in 1991 it was granted institute status as an
affiliate of NAR.
Only about 5,000 commercial real
estate professionals hold the CCIM
designation, which reflects the caliber of the
commercial real estate broker and why it is one of the
most coveted and respected designations in the industry.
With a business network encompassing
1,000 markets throughout the world, CCIM's
effectively direct local, national, and international
commercial real estate transactions.
